Beyond

Folder:
Death

Too young to die, too angry to live,
You left me here all alone,
Too bitter to see a better life was out there,
Between Heaven and Earth,
Beyond the moon, beyond the stars.
Into the night I feel your touch,
Now I'm lost in this world without you,
Whisper me your secrets,
Whisper me your songs,
Tell me where I belong.
Now I'm too angry to live, too afraid to die,
I dreamed of a better life for us,
My place in this world is lost without you,
My heart and home taken too soon.
Your eyes haunt my dreams,
Staring through the grave at good-bye
Your arms reach out through time,
Trying so desperately to get a grasp at life from beyond.
Yet it's just out of our reach,
The better life we dreamed of.
I lost you the day you went beyond death's door,
For there, there is no turning back.
So I live out my days alone,
I wait and I weep,
For I know someday my time will come,
So wait for me just beyond Heaven's gate...

Author's Notes/Comments:

Written for Jeff about a year after he died.  A friend of mine that plays in a band now uses it as a song.  I hope someday the whole world will hear it, it makes you want to  cry.
