A Woman's Friendship

Her friendship still standing

like a giant Redwood

after a legion of problems

have come and gone. Timeless

as the shores of Atlantis;

sacred vestiges

where the prodigies of freedom

once walked. Solid

as marble, more resplendent

than mosaic tiles decorating

the floors

of hallowed temples. Welcomed

like sun flowers to Van Gogh,

or a smile that enchanted

the face of Mona Lisa. Everything

we share, from skin

to madness; the silly

and bizarre, humor, sadness,

disappointment and joy. Rain

and sunshine, happiness,

laughter and more. She hugs

away the intrusions, massages

when I am sore; open arms

always, and much, much

more. Kisses to enchant me,

a voice that comforts, hands

that heal, and eyes openly

speaking – six short words

that she and I believe

in: I will never leave your side.
