Saddest Goodbyes

Lifeless on the couch,

Like a fish stick waiting to be flipped.

I stared deadly at the television,

Watching the untouchable success that I wish was mine.

A single tear dropped from my eye,

A tear that I haven’t allowed to escape for so many days.

We've all grown older,

Older than what I was the last time we chatted.

The sun came out behind the rain clouds,

As the rainbow flashed its brilliant smile.

American Pie II is coming to theatres near you,

But whom will I be watching it with?

When all of us will be walking onto our own paths,

Within days and days.

"I know everything's going to change,

And I am expecting things to change.

But guys...

I just don’t want things to change!"

Remembering last summer,

Where we sat under that big dark sky.

Watching those fireworks explode before us,

Like the day that we met.

"Time to say goodbye,"

The song that constantly reminds me of our departure.

Tears come sliding down,

Unstoppable.

Must we grow up for real?

Must things always change?

I slouched on the couch,

Dreaming of the day that we could all be together again.

That will be the day,

The day that I will tell you that I love you.

Love you because you are you,

Love you because you are my friend.

I don’t ever want to say goodbye,

Just say "C ya around."

Hopefully this hasn’t scared you,

Because I know you will be scared.

But I just wanted to let you know how I felt,

Just wanted you to know that I will always remember.

Remember every word we shared,

In our lonesome teenage years.

Although I won’t be able to tell you the exact letter and syllable,

I just know that I will take those words to my grave.

How fast time has gone by,

How fast time has gone by…

Look at how fast our lives has gone by…

And how we’re all going to say “Goodbye.”
