Family Portrait

Pretty smiles that aren't real,

Love that I can never find.

All of it's captured in my family portrait.

Trapped between Mommy and Daddy,

With a plastic smile carved into my face,

Tears dried up with false promises.

I hate pretending I'm happy.

I hate pretending I love my family.

Captured in this moment,

Are sixteen years that I'd like to forget.

Now that I've found my path in this wicked garden of life,

Cut me out of the picture,

And paste in what is supposed to be there.

Because if this is my family portrait,

Where is the picture of you and me?

Author's Notes/Comments:

Just a little something about how I despise my family and how I miss my boyfriend.
