policemen at the spot

It was a Friday afternoon and Marissa is finally out of classes. She wanted to hang out with her friends so decided to invite them to “the spot”, a place to hang out, have some drinks and eat some appetizers. They all arrived around 7:00 pm, asked for a drink, and started talking about their lives.

“Anna, I´m planning my birthday party for the next weekend, you better come” Marissa said. “It´ll be amazing and I really hope you all get to come”.

“Why don´t you throw you party this weekend? Your birthday is in a few days, isn´t it?” Anna said.

“I´ve got so many work to do, projects, homework, exams. I don´t have time to plan my party for this weekend, and I want it to be perfect”.

“I could totally help you out with that”.

“I know, but it would be better for me if I wait until next weekend”.

The girls were there, hanging out, having a good time together, drinking and chatting. People came in and out of that place, asking for a drink or just hanging out. Just like any ordinary day.

“Guys, I think I’m starting to get sick,” Sophia said in a slow, dramatic voice.

“Why would you think that?” Anna asked her.

“You have been sick for like a month now!” Marissa added to this dramatic conversation.

“I know, but I have no idea of what is wrong with me, it´s like a never ending disease, but I think…”

Someone interrupted her and every person who was at “The Spot”.

“We are here to inspect this place. We need to make sure that everything is in order. Everything is okay, just please remain in your seats” a manly voice shouted, as if he were in a sort of police camp. “Come in now” he demanded.

And seven tall, strong guys came in with huge guns, and the entire place was quiet and everybody was scared.

“What is happening?” Anna asked to her friends.

“Shhhh…” they all whispered.

Everyone in “The Spot” was in shock, not knowing what to do. Should they just stand up and leave? Should they stay? Why do they all have these huge guns with them?

In all of a sudden, a guy who was hanging out in that place stood up and approached the man who was giving the orders. Every single person in that place stared at him, wondering if he was out of his mind.

“Hello officer, my name is Robert and I´m sorry for not following instructions, but I´m afraid your men can´t be inside this place with these guns without a legal order”.

After these words a huge tensions started to grow inside “The Spot”. The girls looked ate each other wondering what the situation would turn out to be.

“He is right” Marissa suddenly said.

“Marissa, what are you doing? You want us to get in trouble?” Sophia whispered trying not to catch the officer´s attention.

“Young man I suggest you to take your seat and to not say a single word, we are authorities, so we have the right to do anything we want and carry any gun we want”.

“Pardon me officer, but you actually do not have the right to come in with these guns”

“Young man you better shut up!” the officer shouted.

“Why doesn´t he just shut up?” Anna asked her friends.

“Look at all these people, they are scared to death because of all your men with these guns. If you are just making sure everything is okay you shouldn´t come in with them. That´s how accidents happen, without people thinking they will happen” the guy started to speak with a higher tone of voice.

“Do you want me to take you to the police station because you are contradicting the authorities?”

“I just want you to respect the law because I know for sure that you are not allowed to come in with these guns! I´m a lawyer for crying out loud!”

And the silence returned to the room.

“I will ask for these video tapes and will look for you, officer” the guy ended his statement.

The 8 policemen who were in “The Spot” just turned around and left the place, and everybody was still in silence trying to process what had just happened.
