My last trial

I was late to the trail of my life, everyone was waiting, the secretary, the jury, even the judge. When I arrived there were some whispers in the back of the room, everybody was wondering, how could I be so late, it might be the most important event ever, and everybody was thinking the worst of me. But you know, there’s only two paths to take, or in my case two paths that they will put me in, the good one or bad one.

“Adam please step forward and take a seat over here,” the Judge said. My hands were shaking. My mind was recapitulating every step I took, every move I made, every word I said, but nothing came up, I didn’t do anything wrong, at least that’s what I thought so. The whole room was standing up waiting for the jury signal to sit down and start the trial, but apparently they were waiting for me to sit down. I know how this works, I used to be a judge, but this was a whole different type of trail to what I was used to assist.

“Adam, tell us a little bit about yourself, how old are you?, do you have any hobbies?, did you work?” The Judge said.

"Well humm... I'm, I used to be a judge, just like you your honor, from my 66 years old I had been a judge for 33 sir. And anything about me and my hobbies are irrelevant now... I think"

I was able to feel my sweat crossing my forehead like never before, and how my knees betrayed me for seconds, and how my mouth changed every word that came out of my mouth. My senses were awake now. Oh boy why now?

“Irrelevant you say? Lucky for you, here I'm the Jury, the Judge and in your particular case the executioner, we are all me, so I said what it is irrelevant and what is not." he said "Anyway, you are being judge for the most punishable crime ever, this is going to be fast for you son."

"Please your honor I have been a partial judge my all life, I’ve received some threats and people have had blackmail me and tried to buy me for tons of money but I always thought of myself as a good guy, the one who helps, I did all things right sir, please have mercy on me"

"We are not here for the good things you did, we are here for that one thing you did wrong... You are a murder and there is no way to change that, you took the most precious thing in the world, the life you took is going to take you down"

In that moment I knew it, I remembered once again why I was being judge, I was able to feel again the cold metal of the gun in my hand, the trigger in my finger, the smell of gunpowder, the look of the empty room, and finally the taste of gunpowder in my mouth. I remember once again how I took my own life. I was doomed. I was alone. I was nothing.

"Let's just finish this for you, police take him where he belongs, take him down"

This was the last time I ever saw light again, there is just darkness for me now. How ironic boy. (564)
