The Pyramids

“Are you sure you want to do this thing? There is no coming back”

“This is my whole life´s work, I´ve been waiting for an opportunity like this for 40 years. I am ready,” the man said as he stepped inside of the machine.

“Ok, then. Here we go.”, the second man pressed a few buttons, switched some switches, and proceeded to pull a lever.

The room was quiet; the only thing that could be heard was the little hum coming from the machine. For a million years humans had wondered if it was possible to travel back in time. Civilizations had risen and fallen, the human race had migrated to many, many planets and finally they were able to invent this machine. This machine was the epitome of human inventions. You could decide where and when to stop, the only downside? You can never go forward.

The date was set for 2500 BC, Egypt. The pyramids had always fascinated him. How could a civilization without even power and machines build such as thing? Of course he had never seen them, he only knew about them from an ancient history database he read once. Stories of Earth and its history were almost myths long forgotten; nobody knew about them, it had been such a long time.

He was exited. Not only would he be the first man in history of humankind to travel back in time but he would also be able to see how it al started. After a few seconds he opened his eyes, the machine worked.

Suddenly he was in the middle of the desert, back on Earth, with no clue where exactly he was. He was soon found by some guards and taken back to the Pharaoh. He was surprised; it was nothing like he had read. Just plain huts made of stone and wood.

He was being treated extremely well, he was welcomed by everyone on their knees. It was much better than he had expected. The first night there was a feast in his honor and he was sited in the best place of the temple and given lots of gifts. With no way of communicating he had no idea of what was happening. But he knew he was a God, still he was nervous and all the time he was wondering where the pyramids where at.

He made a small drawing on the sandy floor and showed it to the Pharaoh. From his expression he realized he had no idea what he was talking about, but the Pharaoh liked it. He wasn´t really sure if he actually liked it or only liked it since the Pharaoh believed he was a God.

Still he thought that he did not travel across time and space and not see the pyramids, he decided he needed to build them himself. A few months later after learning the language construction began with the help of the man´s designs and simple machines. Finally he was going to be able to achieve his dream.

And that is the true story about pyramids.
