A Whole New Start

In the aftermath of the world’s end in the Mountains of Great-Hill, all the animals that lived in the mountain gathered around in the river. The first one to arrive to the river was a rabbit desperately looking for his mother. He stayed almost all day waiting for his family, or other animals to help him, but no one came. It was until the rabbit heard someone moving around the trees. It was a big bad wolf, starving. The wolf stared at the rabbit planning to attack him. The rabbit scared to death, shouts: “Whoever is behind those trees, please don't eat me, I’m just trying to find my mother.” “Please have mercy”. The wolf sat there, preparing the attack, and suddenly the wolf stopped, for no reason explained.

“So what happened to your mother?” the wolf asked.

The rabbit surprised by the wolf attitude, answered...

“When the floor started shaking, and the trees were falling down, I was sleeping in my cave with my mother and she started to shout “James get out and run to the highest tree, I will meet you there.”

“And what happened after that?” The wolf asked.

“I’m not sure, as soon as I got to the tree where we usually ate carrots, a large piece of rock hit me in my head. Then I woke up, all the trees had fallen and the sun was already rising, so I went directly to my cave, but my mother was no longer there”

“That’s really sad to hear, I’m so sorry.” replied the wolf.

“And what happened to you? What’s your story?” Asked the little rabbit.

“Why do you think I have a story to tell” Replied the wolf.

“I don’t now, everybody should have a story after this mess”

“Well I was hunting with my little boy and other friends, it was a bright and sunny afternoon when suddenly, from one moment to another, it was all dark. The wind blew so hard that the trees where falling, so we started running to our shelter beneath the river. But my son got trapped, and when the other way around with the other wolves we were hunting with.

“And what happened to your son?”. Asked the little rabbit

“I really don’t know, I couldn't chase him anymore because everything was falling apart, I couldn’t do anything about it.”

“So that is why you are helping me?, because my situation reminded you of your son?” Asked the rabbit.

“Indeed” Replied the wolf.” Because maybe my little boy lost the wolf pack, and could be all alone, and I would hope that anybody could help him even if it’s our worst enemy.”

“So what are we waiting for? Let’s go and try to find them” Said the rabbit.

The wolf and the rabbit started to descend the mountain when suddenly; a really tired and hungry wolf pack approached to the scene, the wolf defended the rabbit as if he was his own son. The wolf stood up and said “He is not my prey he is my friend, leave him alone.” The wolfpack attacked the rabbit. But the wolf defended the rabbit from all the wolves, and then ran away. Suddenly at the end of the bunch, he saw a little wolf and a rabbit walking by each other. There were the son and the mother that were lost. The mother run, and jumped with joy towards his son, and the wolf with his son. They became very respectful to one another, and learned that sometimes you have to help, and be compassionate with other people.
