Egypt's, and Rome's great ones are deified
by popular acclaim when they have died
(by natural cause, murder, or suicide).
Bu then they are interred---grand tomb, plain sod---
remembered only by some statuary.
Some think the whole custom is rather odd.
But we have met someone extraordinary:
our man came into this wolrd as a god
already. Crown him expeditiously
so we can take our place immediately---
a major kingdom with full sovereignty.
That which imperial Caesar claims and seizes
will be restored to us whenever Jesus
gives the command, and any time he pleases.
