Broken Rock

I lay upon felt hills of green

Neath flickering light of deep blue night

The thoughts of her come rolling in...

Like waves on rock - the oceans might

The sharpened crags upon the shore

Protrude like gasping jagged knives

Thier faces stern and hard and cold

Still screaming from when compromised

But with each blow...

They soften still

And likewise does thier drive to kill

To pay with blood

To pay through pain

That night the devil played his game

He played and won

He got away...

But even still was left a stain

For what has gone and passed for one

Will for the other - always stay

And waves can only dull so much

The sharpened edge of broken rock
