AMERICA IN LOVE

Whatever it is, it's a passion--

A benign dementia that should be

engulfs, fed in a way

       Inside as by the opposite of the way

in which it's an ache of tenderness;

       From the heart;

nothing else. From one with ability

to bear being misunderstood--

Somehow the accident of pleasure--a dedication qualified

     indeed; at the opposite pole from the miser's need
