Give My Soul to Anybody

When the party's over
Laughter has faded into the walls
Smoke and vomit leave residue
But your heart slowly falls

I know the silence lingers
While you're sitting in the lobby
Though sober and thoughtful
You'd give your soul to anybody

I bleed through the night
The stars wrap me in moonlit blankets
Everyday is the same, under streetlight
Screaming, "I can't take it!"

Make the people stop staring
My hysteria is no mockery
Tears lick my hot flesh
This is no camera eye movie scene

Their shiney black cars take me
In suits of blinding white
I know the faces too well
They drag me out of sight

Questions, no answers
Speculation, just fixation
Of pulpits preaching blasphemy
To a burning, weakened nation

Getting off to newspaper lies
Blinding ourselves to secret
We know the truth is out there
Why do we let them keep it?

Nothing reaches no one
No one sings to nobody
Nobody lives forever
And forever speaks endlessly
