Where Have We Gone?

I wish that it could always be, the way it was the first time you made love to me.

Our love, so fresh and new back then, we loved each other dearer then, life was so sweet!

The years have somehow past us by, our love has dulled,

I ask you how that this can be?

I know we love each other still, and in our hearts we always will, this I believe!

Hold me close and tell me that you love me -

as much as the girl you married years ago!

After all these years I know that you must still love me.

It's just so nice to hear you tell me so!

If I could have a wish come true, I'de spend my whole life loving you, as we did back then.

We're just a little older now, but oh, we're so much wiser,

lets begin again.

I love you with all that I can give you!

I know sometimes that I can be unfair.

Darling there is one thing I can tell you

No one loves you dearer anywhere!

Lets begin to love again, the way we did way back when our love was new.

We'll be each other's friends again, We'll share the love that we knew way back then!

Author's Notes/Comments:

Where Have We Gone? was written for my husband close to 15 years ago.   We had already been married almost 15 years, our olderst almost grown, and one affair delt with that almost put an end to it all.  This is really a song and not a poem.  It was written in sheer frustration and fear on night as he slept on the livingroom couch and I sat plunking on the guitar.  This piece may very well have saved my marriage all those years ago.  In May we will be married 32 years.  It just goes to show you if you want something bad enough, anything is possible.  I hope you enjoyed Where Have We Gone?  Lesa

Great poem. Great song. We all want that, to never give up on love, to keep trying. What a great woman you are. What a great wife you. I know about the affair. I am glad you guys survived it. It just shows your marriage is strong. Nice that you play guitar.

When we have reached a certain age, if we are smart...We realize that to be in love is an everchanging story all wrapped-up within itself... But the change is hardly noticed by the participants for they are changing right along with the relationship... And as long as they are changing together and in harmony, Things will be alright...
(Just a little somthing I believe!)

Peace and love ~~~~ Dougie ~~~
