somewhere familiar

frozen as i step outside

i breathe in the cold air of night

my eyes water, my nostrils sting

as i'm surrounded by the silence of everything

i trap the snow beneath my feet

standing still enough to hear my heart beat

i tilt my head up towards the sky

staring with a cold tear next to my eye

the gray clouds pass by the moon in it's place

like old friends walking at a faster pace

i see the trees lie naked and bare

as the subtle wind speaks to them like a prayer

my eyes they close, imagining the earth

bewildered at all it's worth

God has made peace even in the dark

a certainty that will not depart

i continue on my way

i took Peace with me from that place

somewhere familiar

The Nameless's picture

I'm very glad I came across this poem tonight. I'm not sure how to respond to it, but it is truly quite beautiful. For a moment during the first half it actually made me quite emotional.
