As a child I dreamed of that one thing I could never have,
That doll with the curls or that hot wheels collectible in a can,
Never realizing how attainable these realities were,
Never seeing the deeper desires of the soul unearthed.
As an adult I still dream of that one thing I can never attain,
That love that cherishes me for me and doesn’t refrain,
A man that loves so deeply that others just fade
And the idea of even sharing a lustful thought goes away
A man that isn’t afraid to cry, to fight, or to pray
Who holds my hand and steals my heart over again everyday
A man that can tell me his deepest thoughts and concerns,
A man that can hear me when I don’t say a word,
Someone that won’t lie just to eat his cake too,
Who won’t hide things and pretend it’s the right thing to do.
A man that needs me just as I need him,
Who won’t deceive or betray me for the joy of the sin.
A man who is proud and not jealous of my brain,
This is a man that I still find impossible to attain..
Someone to share my life with that can look in my eyes,
And tell me he loves me without telling me lies,
Faithfulness unfailing like the pull of the moon,
Where ever you are… I’m still waiting for you..
