Remus And Nymphadora Under The Starry Ceiling

By Peter Christopher Raymond

Their souls have passed behind the curtain

This and little else do I know for certain

I saw the curses strike them squarely in the chest

Now they recline temple to temple as though at rest

Beneath the cover of artificial constellations

Still and unaffected despite surrounding jubilation

Release from the curse of the lycanthrope

Those binds which had extinguished all hope

Fear of the luminous celestial orb

The care and weariness you've absorbed

When the coldness spreads across the flesh

Though anger and sorrow intermesh

The dead are free of that awful burden

They've long since slipped behind the curtain

Their wands released from their fingers

Final anxious expressions linger

With flashes of light a child is thus orphaned

Do pray he shall not inherit ill-fortune

That the fates may show mercy and not curse his soul

To act upon urges beyond his control

Born of a witch who lived so bravely

Succumbing gravely yet she kept you in safety

Who bore against the most practical advice

Who ran to the front in grave sacrifice

Felled by a spell and flash of green light

And slipped off silently in the midst of the fight

Shafts of light slips through shattered window panes

Touching the remains of the dark lord who's been slain

His body limp and eyes rolled back in his skull

His minions scattered and his rulings annulled

And long after the dead are reduced to bones

Their spawn shall have freedom they had never known

Years from now when the child is grown

Though their spirits have flown their love has been sown

With birthday wishes sealed in his heart

Amidst pumpkin juice and treacle tart

Born of the brave with the blessings of the fates

Surrounded by friends as he celebrates

Thank you, Bishu! I wrote it

Thank you, Bishu! I wrote it at a time when I was stuck on what to write about. I was reading all of the Harry Potter novels one after the other so I decided to write a poem about two wizards in The Order Of The Phoenix. :)
