Writer’s Block
Clark Steven Lupton
October 30, 2004
I don’t have a girlfriend
And I don’t have a wife
I couldn’t write anything right now
If it depended on my life
These things about me
May come to you as a shock
But that’s what happens to me
When I have writer’s block
That’s the way things are
I may think of words all day
But women won’t go for me
If I have nothing to write or say
Women don’t go for looks
Or for power or might
Women are looking for men
Who really know how to write
They could care less about what car you drive
Or if you can provide a comfortable home
A woman looks at how a man expresses himself
And how he writes a poem
They don’t care if you’re responsible
Or if you arrive on time
They care how you conjugate a verb
And how well you rhyme
A woman doesn’t care if you’re famous
Or if you own a bank
But she will eventually leave you
If your writing draws a blank
A woman will work on her feminine charms
And spend hours on her look
Because she really wants to be yours
As long as you can write a book
If you can’t write
There are two things you can be sure
Not only won’t you get the girl
You’ll also end up poor
If you cannot write
While everybody else can
You are doomed to be a loser
Writing is the measure of a man
So crank out those words!
Life will go your way….
But I guess I won’t get the girl for now
Because I have nothing more to say
Hey, Unca Steve! Neat poem. I've never come across any poem about writer's block that was as humorous yet as truthful as yours. Good job! =)
