My Brothers Kindle

My brother has always been a bookworm; he loves reading like he loves his family. We are a family that has moved a lot, in the past ten years we have moved 5 times and to three different countries. The first time we moved I remember my brother carrying all of his books and being sad because the books got damaged during the trip. But like a good bookworm he always carried the books, everywhere; he read about 15 books a year. I remember one day he got upset about losing a book, it was the seventh and final book of Stephen King’s Dark Tower, he was angry, he was upset about losing the book. He always reads in English, to practice, he knew it was going to be hard to find that book in English here in Mexico, so he did a lot of research, considered importing it, but then he saw a solution: electronic books (e-books). With an e-book reader he would no longer have to carry all of his books or lose them, he no longer would have to wait to read in English, he could buy every book he wanted from his computer. He is really paranoid and obsessed with his reading and books, so it is normal that he investigated everything about every e-book reader in the market, he even wrote letters to all of them, to see if any of them would answer… amazon did. Amazon wrote back to my brother explaining why he should buy their product: the amazon kindle. That was a new era for my brother, he no longer needed to carry the books, he no longer needed to go to the US and buy whole years worth of books, he could now buy books with one click from home. He says it is one of the most amazing things man has invented, trees don’t need to be cut down to read, which he also likes (I never heard him say that before, but hey! At least he is happy). Now, after many years of seeing him carry hundreds of books everywhere, I wonder: how many does he carry in that little piece of plastic? I feel like that little plastic that he is always carrying around is part of our family, it´s been in many important events, every vacation we make, is one of us now. I wonder now how many people that has this little piece of plastic change their lives like it change my brother and my families live.
