JOURNAL # 41

beasts of blind fury
stare down
the manicured avenues
denoting such prestige
as throngs of scarred voices
and mismatched points of view
reflect the cryptic glare
that burns from the eyes of the nation
all have come to chant and hope
for the same thing
change with some teeth to it
laws constructed
to help propel the little man
a little farther up the chain
while issuing
sturdier collars for the
rabid money dogs
and a little more fairness to
modify the obviously too corrupt
the country stands unfairly
now on one foot
collective anger rises up to
stand guard over the gaping
wounds of prior despair
the disenfranchised
shouting down the walls
that pit main street against
wall street
nights stand long
and days drone on
but power is in
the determined populous
so I say
my fellow Americans

Still, let me thank you though quite belatedly, for reeading it!

Poetry is like art sometimes, we know what we like and don't like even if we can't really say just why. I'm happy just to get some general feed back of hey I liked this or even hey Melissa this was utter hog wash. It shows someone cared enough to comment. Sincerely, Melissa
