A Dream Come False

Folder:
My Broken Heart

You were a dream...

When I woke up

with a broken gasp

and the smoke cleared,

the bitter reality

was so hard to grasp.

To seize a moment

when truth was respected

and honesty was expected,

my hands fail me.

My breathing frail;

the air is stale.

And the stars fall

on me now,

blanketing me

for colder nights to come

now that painful fights are done.

Loneliness brings

the most bittersweet peace;

tomorrow sings

of love’s release.

But for now,

I dream of

yesterday’s schemes~

what used to seem real~

today’s screams

and pouring streams.

The future beams

are dim until

the sun melts away

night’s chill

and light peeks

through heart’s windowsill.
