Out, Just for a Moment

I climbed out of my shell to lie on the beach.

The sun warmed my tender skin.

Then I began to sweat.

I looked aroung for relief

But the tide had taken away the water and my shell.

Panicked I rose but the sun pained me.

I ran toward the water but fell of blistered feet.

Crying out to no answer

I looked for one.

Then as I faltered I saw a shell,

A new shell, much bigger, much darker, much deeper.

I climberd inside and vowed not to get burned again.

Hermit crabs shouldn't go out in the sun.
