I long for the reclusiveness of a cabin on the lake

Far away from the city's toxic madness

Trading expensive tastes and wastes of urban life

for the simple pattern of rabbit prints on snow.

How precious, in my opinion, are these minor things,

wind in the trees, songbirds and brilliant stars.

Increasing immunity to city lights and noises harsh.

While growing more astute of nature's splendid offerings.

How fortunate to enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

I've always said someday I will live in a cabin on the lake and it will be in N.H. even though I live in Mass..

Lovely job! There's just one problem. I want to be in that secluded little spot for about a hundred years. LOL I love this poem. It makes me feel peaceful just to read it.

Hi Kim,
The simple things in life are the best. I think anyone who likes to write or reads tends to gravitate to the quieter corners of the world.
It is not just a dream!!!
We moved from the city to a country property of 5 acres about a year ago. We have a creek running through the middle of our land and although the rabbits dont leave their footprints in our non existent snow, they still leave little messages that they are around. We have wild frogs and birds together with our own pet sheep, horses and goats.
The air is clear and the night sky is magnificent!!!
