O My Ayiyiyi!!!

When I asked her who was she

She said, “I am Ayiyiyi”

Not ABC nor XYZ

But she was only Ayiyiyi

Though many problems she fostered

From all nonsense she was free

In depression, in anxiety

She said to herself, “Ayiyiyi”

While she was surprised or confused

She used to exclaim, “Ayiyiyi”

When she was tired, went to bed

And eased herself with “Ayiyiyi”

From every quagmire she escaped

She charged herself with Ayiyiyi

Whether in suffering or in pain

She always murmured Ayiyiyi

Whenever she was so happy

She whispered to me Ayiyiyi

She liked to sing in jolly mood

Each song started with Ayiyiyi

As she was full with sanguine hope

Her eyes sparkled Ayiyiyi

Whenever she looked at the moon

She wished to fly Ayiyiyi ……

When I said, “You have golden heart”

Embraced me dancing Ayiyiyi

From top to toe, from A to Z!!

So she was throughout Ayiyiyi

To my utter dismay, one day!!!

She said she was not Ayiyiyi!!!

Of course I remember you Iqbal. May I say the years have passed quickly. And seeing a note from you spurs memories of the days when I would write verse, and share the world through prose and the internet. I no longer write Iqbal but it was good to hear from you and to re-ready the Ayiyiyi which you so exquisitely portrayed with your pen.
I hope your life is good, and I'm now wondering how is your wife. I do remember she was so ill with Parkinsons. My father passed away June of 2006 with Parkinsons. It was a devastating time. I wish you well my friend.

Such characters and to be able to incorporate all the assorted moods into Ayiyiyi was just brilliant. Thank you for sharing. Linda

Very charming character sketch. I liked it a lot up to the point where she said she wasn't Ayiyiyi. Of course she was.

Iqbal... Thanks for sending dear friend...yes I am busy...with family and planning for a guest. I hope that your family is well...and blessed. Thank you for letting me know of this one. It is a happy piece...and sad too... but sometimes we cannot be so Ayiyiyi...hmmm? Very nice the way you have employed all emotions into the single phrase. Keep smiling Iqbal...
