Are we running blind?

Hiding in what shadows survive the wrath of Sol’s beam
Trailing only the scent as centuries of rays have taken its toll on Skoll’s weary eyes
Half the time in the world will never be enough to attain
Yet his hinds are strung to pounce at all instants
As one day his bloody teeth will bear the sun

Smothered in darkness… Hati hides in plain sight
Clouds have no authority at this time of night
Mani keeps his head ajar waiting for him to come into view
To the horizon they head to rest from the hunt
As one day his bloody teeth will bear the moon

Only set and rise is where any common ground is made; barely

When the gods collide fate will decide if these blood bounds will get their feed

Author's Notes/Comments:

This piece has direct references to the Hati and Skoll norse mythology. They are two wolves that chase the sun and the moon, in this instance the sun is Sol and the moon is Mani. The final line is in reference to Ragnarok which is the day of reckoning in norse mythology.

The poem is about greed, and ultimatley the human nature of ignoring consequences if the reward is large enough.

I read Norse Mythology off an on over the years, the stories are great! Where the Gods come from is amazing as well...There are several versions of Ragnarak as I recall...will have to take a look. Loved the Norse piece, somebody finally got it right - Lady A
