In love with the full moon.
Big. Strong. Deep. Beautiful. Stealing my breath.
Everything gets washed away
Because like the man with meatball eyes
and spaghetti hair, I am home.
Existence? Reality? Irrelevant.
It could not be more perfect.
Eternal bliss... and then...
In a moment where I search for your kiss...
I see how far we were from eternity
In a second, you're taken from me.
I'm left here, broken, yearning for your touch
saddened by the distance, pained at how much.
With every night comes a crescent moon
and slivers of emotion shine through
but it's never been the same for me and you...
Until I see another full moon,
everything rushing back in,
With you, I can not lose,
but with our distance, I can not win.
Innocent and hopeless I fall for you again.
As the year cycles round
both as crescents and in full
you shimmer through my life
and I wouldn't have to bear it
if I didn't love the night.
I'll be honest in saying that I don't often read other people's poems because I usually don't enjoy it, but this is definitely an exception. I will continue reading.
