Leaders

Leaders,

strong, black, proud

Leaders,

we say your name out loud

now

we bow

to God who is our head

we vow

that we’ll serve Him

no matter what may come ahead

Leaders,

who influence our lives

Leaders,

our pastors, ministers, clergy and their wives

Leaders,

who invoke change within us

but

The real change takes place within our souls;

The real change takes place when the unfolding of our souls reflect in some deep, mysterious way

like that deep, agonizing, glorious Shabach that we cry to the Lord

to ask Him for His help

Life is not a technical or mechanical act of engineering

It cannot be lived by following a script

The metaphor of leader as a poet is an important one because metaphors establish a mindscape that affects the way we look at the world.

Leaders influence what we believe and how we act.

They also set our expectations and establish the way we think about leadership

Leadership, like life, is about learning what it means to be fully human

They feel pain as many of us do

they endure the same struggles that regular people go through

Leaders toil in the messy fields of day-to-day life

From the nights of crying that we'll never know

Many late night phone calls of pain and sorrow

All the emotional moments we'll never see

and all of this because of ministry

you keep all of those secrets because of the love that you have for each and every one of us

kinda like the love that God had when He sent us His only begotten Son

and that piece of the story has just begun

to tell of the many works we'll do to come

For it is written that we'll do greater works in Jesus' name

Have people coming in one way and not leaving the same

So all the things that lie ahead are greater than us

All the witnessing we'll do

will have the war won

the one who has the power to set us all free

and now that we've won

God's got the victory

Through the leaders He sent right after His own heart

made the veterans in the gospel even get s fresh start

yet still had a heart to lead the people with humility

integrity, longevity, loving kindness

which is what we need

So we are so thankful for our leadership Pastor and Lady Meade

    intensely written this

intensely written this poem/prose, you have listed many qualities a leader should have - I think one of the most important qualities is to be humane and remember we are all human, the rest are popular and unpopular decisions which sometimes have to be made.  Liked your writing your creation here was very interesting to read and evokes a comment I think by all who do read this prose.
