A Dissection of Sin

Folder:
Society

Sin is not simple;

its motives are

less out of desire

to do the wrong thing

and more to get

what we deserve.

We sin not to enjoy

the short-lived

pleasure and thrill,

but to bring on

the suffering

we know follows.

We thrive on pity,

on sympathetic eyes

wondering where

we made a wrong turn

leaving us at this dead end.

But we knew where

we were going

the whole time;

we knew it would kill us.
