Smile for the Camera

"Smile" says the woman with the camera.

So she obeys

Her grin is large

Pearly white teeth show perfect

Only made perfect after braces, and Colgate whitening toothpaste,

She's perfect, enthusiastic, never irresponsible,

An innocent angel.

"They all love you." her friend says.

She wonders if they love that she cries everyday,

Or that she needs a relationship to feel any sense of love,

Or that alcohol is how she gets rid of those tears.

The insecurity is building once more.

"Why wouldn't they? I'm perfect" she replies to her friend with that same grin.

You know the one:

Perfectly perky

Energetically enthusiastic

Yet still inescapably insecure.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I don't even know why I wrote this one.  It was done this past summer, must have been a bad day.
