i long to hear your voice whisper to me

that everything's ok

even when it isn't



i long to not only sing with you,

but to be a song with you



i want to come to you for shelter

when i'm caught in the storm

and find peace in your eyes



i long to have you hold me when i cry

and to protect me when i say i'm afraid



i long to lean my head against your chest

and listen to your heart beating with mine

as I drift into sleep in the safety of your arms,

holding me close to you.
