Gentleness

As a soft wind blows in the trees,
a warm, yet cool summer breeze.
The gentleness it uses as it moves through the air.
A softness, and beauty I've never seen there.
A moment in time, frozen forever,
lost in the minds of two gentle lovers.
A moment they'll hold for the rest of their days.
A moment they share in so many ways.
The gentleness of time which continues to preserve,
the memories we have shared and heard.
A gentleness in the way that they see
a gentleness between her and me.
But for us two, time has shown,
that that gentle moment is all we'll have known.
For it simply was just not meant to be,
for more than a moment in eternity.
But that gentle moment holds deep in my mind,
because it awoke the desires that were lost in time.
And now because of the gentleness we shared,
perhaps, maybe, my dreams are out there.

Author's Notes/Comments:

As someone once said about love and knowing if it's meant to be or not...
"Knowing is the easy part, saying it out loud is the hard part."  That's what this poem is about.
