I seek comfort in an old sweater
Like a friend or mother
A sad goodbye to spontaneity
A loving glance to an outsider
Softer chords that don't compare
The ones that splinter bones like mist
The fear that inevitably grows
People who hold no one
Crying in dark
Singing the hopeless song
Their mouths open in the cold
No kiss to shut the ramble
Of a thousand lonely souls
Where do all the people go?
When the sound is off for sleep?
When the sick seeps through the black?
How do they feel?
When stutter stuck words won't come out?
When breath is like an atom bomb?
I lift my chin to city wind
Pull the cloak of fear across my chest
Just to step into another classroom
Silenced by an apparition
Staring into someone
