Lent is not a time for gloom

Lent is not a time for glom

Ash and sackcloth and tristesse,

But a time to bring to bloom

A renewal's fruitfulness.

A renewal t'is in Christ,

Proof of friendship's steadfastness,

For Him who hungered forty days

In the barren wilderness.

Tested like us common clay,

While with beasts He did abide,

Hungry thirsty  night and day,

Testing challenges the pride.

Be companion to Him,

Who experienced great tests

In the desert dread and grim

By the mortal foe opprest.

Lo! Renewal is the reason,

Joy it is share with the Lord

Joyful is ther Lenten Season,

Be it in our souls gravured.

Lo!  good wheather friends abound

When the dance goes on and glee,

But these friends are not around

On days of bleak austerity.

Blessed be the Lenten Tide

Sharing testing with the Lord,

In His love He will provide

For the sharing His reward.

beautiful piece. Whether called Lent or something else in other religions the point is man needs to examine himself and realize what went before him...
