You're Only Worth $2000

Just recently military Commander John Nicholson issued an apology

to outraged Afghan people over the alleged killing of civilians.

The apology was for the incident on May 4th where

in Eastern Afghanistan a convoy of Marines

were struck by a suicide car bomber.

One was injured.

In response those Marines opened fire to a crowded bazaar.

Eyewitnesses say they kept firing at vehicles and bystanders

for another 10 miles.

Today the military issued $2000 and deep regrets

to the families of 19 of those who were killed

and 50 who were injured.

Wow, an innocent, human life worth only $2000 for compensation,

those who had nothing to do with the bombing.

19 dead people and each of them costing $2000,

that's how much they're worth to us.

Children who possibly won't see their parents.

Families, spouses, and friends that won't see each other again,

this had me outraged once I heard it on the news yesterday.

You see how war gives us this mentality

to easily hurt just anyone regardless if you're innocent or not?

So in sum $2000, a sorry, then finally a quick

"goodbye folks, us military personnel will be moving on now" is what you'll get.

Author's Notes/Comments:

'Twas on the news last night and I wasn't happy to hear about it.

I had not heard this myself but I totally agree with you. You can't put a dollar price on loss of life and family

This is ridiculous, and what is the world coming to in the sense of sadness where an innocent life is lost, and that just because there was one bomb that went off, doesn't mean that another person did it, or for any innocent person for that matter!! That's just insane!! In my point of view, I think that some people are just losing their heads by each minute that zooms on by!!

wow how unfair is that, its good that the military did something but they obviously didn't do enough, to say that the lives of 19 people were only worth $2000 dollars is absoultly insane, in one year people spend over $10,000 dollars on themselves and others so $2000 dollars would only make a small dent in the money that they would spend!

Actions reflect poverty of mind and soul!
