Not Colour-blind.

I had passed the test for becoming a pilot of one of four space ships. All of the ships had been built in the United States of America, commonly known as the USA. Schooling was hard. I had, had the normal schooling and been to the University of Harvard. This new schooling I became an engineer a mechanic ready to repair any form of electronic or motor technical repairs. I finished this schooling with so many Doctor Titles and Engineering Certificates that I was taken on as a Pilot without even applying for the job. My schooling had not gone unnoticed by the space company.

The times that I had to absolve one training session after the other were uncountable. Suddenly from out of nowhere a large object appeared on the space telescopes trained on to outer space. The alarm sounded at two o’clock in the morning. The voice on the phone called out this is not some alarm but the real thing. Get yourself here as soon as possible, over and out.  This I thought to myself could only be the Military to speak in such a fashion. My car stood ready in the drive, there was hardly any traffic on the roads. Two Military Policemen escorted me to the space ship. The spaceport was well lit with searchlights lighting up the night sky. Now my training came in good stead. Cut off all lighting I bawled to the Military Police and in a matter of seconds the whole of the lights went out all over the world. It was not necessary to broadcast our presence so blatantly to a pretentious enemy. The spaceship had a new fuel system and picked up quarks thrown out by the sun. Given an hour’s instruction a child could have piloted the ship one small handle that slipped down into the easy chairs armrest if one did not know that the most important lever to steer the ship was hidden there was nothing one could do but look at the very large screen that showed everything in front of the ship. A push downward on the lever and the screen filled with all that was behind the ship. Our speed was nearly that of light. In front of me there was this huge ball of what looked like rock and small mountains that looked as if someone had chosen this planet to turn it into a spaceship. Suddenly the ship that I was piloting was surrounded by small space craft the shields came into place and the small ships attacking could do no harm. I took over the ships weapons hidden in the other arm rest of the Pilots easy chair. I picked off two of the small ships and fired the laser twice. The two ships disappeared blown to hell. Suddenly the small planet changed its direction and fled away from us. Personally I did not blame them seeing what had happened to their ships of attack it was better to turn tail and go as fast as they could from such a well equipped ship as ours, more tomorrow from Bern your scribbler of the space news.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Please make some kind of comment I know that space is not every man's liking but it could be worse I could write about gossip I overheard at the Barbers shop the other day. Bern
