Mind Over Matter.

I watched two people for quite a while. I could not say what sort of game they were playing but the pair of them a man and a woman were both staring at a small cube of sugar. The sugar lump they must have taken from the sugar bowl that the waitress had placed on their table as she brought them their coffee.

To have an excuse for sitting longer at my table I ordered another cup of coffee. Both were so intent on doing whatever it was that they were doing that my staring at them and the lump of sugar passed unnoticed. I could not believe my eyes for suddenly the cube of sugar moved. I thought that I was seeing things or at least having a hallucination.

The woman cried out, “It moved, it moved, did you see it move?” The man said, “Don’t get so excited I told you that if we both concentrated on it we could move it. After all it is only a thing of mind over matter”. He then put the lump of sugar back to where it had been. “Now let us move it sideways and this time let it roll off the table, after all it is only a piece of sugar.”

I was now very curious and being something of shall I say a Joker. I decided to play with them. My thoughts concentrated on pushing the sugar lump in the opposite direction to that of the two people. Now six eyes concentrated on the sugar lump, I saw it move a fraction of an inch and concentrated even more on that stupid piece of sugar. I got angry and my anger somehow was tied in with my concentration of moving that sugar lump in the opposite direction to the other two players. Suddenly to my astonishment the sugar lump literally jumped off the table in the direction that I myself was concentrating on.

Calling the waitress I paid for my coffee and got up to walk out of the Café. I heard the remarks of the couple that had moved the lump of sugar. Smiling at my own success I heard the man say you must have been concentrating on it to move in the opposite direction. That was not fair you know. I am sure that if I had been concentrating alone I could have moved it in my direction.

The woman answered in a rather smug way. “It did not move it jumped off of the table, that proves that my will power is much greater than yours.” I did not hear the man’s answer as I saw my bus coming along the street and made a run so as to catch the bus back to my home.

I am not going to ask you to believe what I have just written but if ever you happen pass my way, do pop in, I am willing to show one and all my powers of concentration of mind over matter. I do it now not with lumps of sugar but teacups I transport in this manner as well as other things on my table after eating a meal.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Moving sugar cube

The damp monsoon weather dissolved the lower surface of the sugar cube so it slided. The salt in my saltpot is almost semi-liquid during monsoon. As about the feather there is someone out there blowing air over me.That guy'll move it if he wants to.But YES you are 100% right in your observation mate in Austria...i.e. will power and solitary meditation transcends all physical phenomenon.Happiness awaits us on the twilight zone.
