Your Turn To Push The Boat Out.

I last heard this old saying at one of my relations houses. A baby had been born and the happy Parents wanted the whole Family to know about it. Saturday evening the Church hall was rented from the Vicar and the rest of the Family set to baking cakes, sausage rolls, jam tarts and many more goodies to eat. The drinks were down to the Happy Husband. The local wine store for a few bottles of wine. The beer in two small vats. With Gin, Mothers Ruin for the ladies and many soft drinks for the youth of the Family.

This ritual only takes place if and when the Father can afford to push the boat out, then it is an evening of whoopee. I as usual looked after the bar, It is something I do for the safety of the male youngsters. I refuse to let them mix their drinks. If one starts on wine he or she stays on wine or go elsewhere to get their drinks. Hard drinks I refuse to all of the young people male or female. I have often been called a spoilsport, but what do you know the words do not harm me in any way.

I also have the backing of most of the Parents on this issue. I am often called in when it is again time to push the boat out. One strange thing about all of this is that in our families babies all seem to come within a few months of each other; the rest of the year there is no excuse for pushing the boat out which is in my eyes rather a pity. Cheers my dears.
