Getting Old.

Mind you it is no real problem, just the odd twinge in my legs. Must not eat or drink too much, stomach is easily upset nowadays. Without those damned sleeping tablets, no sweet dreams. Once upon a time I could sleep right through the night, now it is half of the night spent going to and from the bathroom, Hoping that the wife is not disturbed by the flushing of the toilet.
Once breakfast was a plate of creamy porridge oats sweetened with sugar, now pleased if the wife lets me take a pries of salt to flavor my porridge oats. Toast once was a mainstay at breakfast now it is a slice of skimpily spread butter. No beer, no wine this is to pamper my brain the odd drink of any kind of alcoholic beverage upsets both my brain and my stomach.
Go for a walk, I should smile, more than a hundred yards and I am panting like a young puppy that has just had a scrap with the next doors cat. A shower of rain, out from wardrobes come Macintoshes, south- westers, must not get wet. One never knows when one is ready for a nasty cough or worse a cold with a runny nose. All takes me back to my childhood. Mind you the wife is usually right where the weather is concerned. Remember call in on the Chemists shop must not forget the aspirins and any other junk to counteract the coughs and colds that come regularly every winter. Start to think back was it always like this do not seem to remember being a snotty nosed little brat. No I was the one that ran through every puddle no matter what the weather was like. Water was a challenge in those far off days.

Remember to raise my hat as the funeral procession goes past me. Wonder who it was this time. Seems that many are kicking the bucket or is it because I too will be soon in my wooden basket. Hope that it is true that one can see the daisies growing from under the earth. Hope that not too many visitors come and spoil my peace and quiet. What lies beyond this life? Does one really sit on a cloud playing a harp? I cannot envision myself as an Angel with wings singing hymns of praise more likely down below stoking those fires of hell. What happens after this period of punishment does one get born again to run through a life that is one huge balloon of trouble? If this is so then I hope I get a chance to go off on my own seeing all of the planets and the strange folk that inhabit these planets. Hopping from one to the other planet free as the air. I must admit this life was not a very good one compared to some of the Happy People that I have met on my journeys around this world of ours.

Was reading a Bengali story Austromate a day back....

It was about a blind widow who didn't have any money. Her nephew took care of her. One day the nephew told her that he had got an outstation job & would leave next day with whole family. In reality the blind old lady was made to sit beside a window of a train under the impression that her "family members" would follow. The train rolled out with her sitting alone... She bought herself a cup of tea. While leaving  a platform, a dog longingly looked at the biscuit she was having with her tea. She couldn't see but flung a piece of biscuit at the dog. The dog followed the train wagging its tail & barking furiously. In a few seconds the train met with an accident and many old ladies were killed. The Ministry announced a grant of Rs.500,000/- to the next of kin of those killed in the accident. The nephew rushed to the morgue after reading about the accident. But he couldn't identify the corpse.. She had incidentally escaped with minor injuries & sitting on the steps of a temple stringing garlands with the dog sitting close by. She was happy & at peace with herself..... Best wishes from Indimate & family
