Attack from Mars.

A cold winter day just before Christmas, most of the Christian world was decorated to celebrate the coming Birthday of Jesus Christ. Last minute shopping with the streets filled with shoppers most of whom had forgotten something or the other. Most of the Armed Forces had been sent on leave to be with their families on this festive occasion.

The small space station that the earth had put into space, were the first to see the fleet of space ships approaching the Earth. Radio signals sending warnings were being sent non stop to the Earth. Heads of Governments got together to discuss what to do. Telegrams were sent to all members of the armed forces calling them back to their units. Extra trains were put into service. Warnings to the General Public were being broadcast non stop by radio and television.

Mayn still remembered the last war on Earth and plans were made for evacuation to the country side. No one had any real idea what it was all about. The only certain thing was that Aliens were on the way to earth, would this be a peaceful visit of the start of a bloody war with weapons that we on earth had no knowledge of. The big question in most peoples minds were atom weapons to be used.

The space station decided to evacuate the station and return to earth. Many wondered what the fleet of space ships approaching from Mars would make of our rather primitive space station. All telescopes and many with binoculars were looking up into the sky hoping to catch a glimpse of this invading Armada of space ships that were believed to be of Martian origin. The big national telescopes now had the fleet of space ships in their range. Pictures were now being shown on all televisions. One could see no forms of weapons the ships if they had weapons had them well concealed. All Naval battle ships, submarines were out at sea waiting to see whether the space ships would land on water. The Armies of the world were all standing by armed with the most modern weapons that the Earth had produced in the last few years and months. Air force planes were armoured up with ever known air weapon we were not going to give up our earth without a fight and what a fight it would be. A death toll of millions was expected. As the space ships approached the earth all dipped their wings in a salute ans to the surprise and relief of all the Earth inhabitants they flew on their way to wherever they were going. No war on earth just a few hundred space ships flying overhead on their way to somewhere.

Now the civilian population went as if on a command all gone to their local churches to give thanks that there would be no war the last space ship dropped a capsule which as it entered the earths atmosphere a parachute opened slowly hundreds of eyes followed the path of the parachute as it slowly floated down to earth. The first message was read over the radio and the televisions in all of the known world languages. There had been an illness that no one in their home planet could cure. All that did not get this illness were packed on to the space ships and were on their way to an unoccupied planet. They apologised for entering the space above the earth. In the packet with the apology were details of this mysterious illness also some plans for a new type of communication that would enable the peoples of the earth to communicate to each other and anywhere in the universe at no cost. The last part of the message spoke of becoming good neighbours when they were settled in their new home planet.
