Maybe you're young, and you haven't gone to war -- yet. Sometimes war is inevitable, but it still brings death and destruction, often to the innocent who don't deserve it. And it's always the victor who writes the history.

I feel the whole point of the poem was to show how amazing life is, its bad, ugly, and victorious...just be happy your alive to see it, feel it, hear it. Shit happens.
Most War is inevitable
First know I'm a 22 year VET. I've been to the battlefield, and gratefully not in the heat of battle personally. Yet I've lost fellow military members and contractors due to war. People I personally knew, ate with, and worked with in the theator of war. I've served in everything but the Marines. USCG is a defense only element, and not under DOD. I still serve. I'm not done yet. War is very nescessary. It is good in the scense I've described. If you make/take a moment to see the video, it is clear that this sort of chaos is an unfortunate state, yet a required one.. Know I'm Black/African American. I'm not pleased with how America came to be. It's history is as tarnished as any other great nation, but it is still a great nation. The violence this country is ready and prepared to deliver keeps other countries at bay. The threat of War. War is good for all the reasons I state. War as I state will be with us, becuase that is the human way. Whenever and where ever the disagreement is so grave that blood must flow.. What is good is the change thats due to come. The moments of peace will either be for small moments or longer until other humans position themselves for a new change, which they will pay for with blood. Next up is BloodShed.
