The door stands just before me.
The bell sounds in a mystic haze.
I know, that if I move to open it,
my life will never be the same.
He is late for curfew.
A trespass never done.
If I move to open up the door
I will have lost my only son.
The angels moved me forward.
Held me within pure loves embrace.
The door came slowly open
to reveal the policemen's face.
"I am so sorry, Mrs. Mother!
I really don't know the words to say". . .
I felt the floor approach me
as my knees just gave away.
My heart torn out in pieces,
I raised upon my knees.
Dear Lord, Dear Lord,
OH NO!
PLEASE!
PLEASE!
Don't let it be!
~
Before you take that drink and drive,
remember please this scene.
Carry with you the picure of this mother.
Do you really want to turn that key?
Please, don't drink and drive!
I love your poems in geberal. I think the ones that have a point, a message are great too. This one was very dramtic. It was great. Yes, it really makes people think twice.
This poem is just amazing!! I lost a close friend of mine due to drinking and driving and this was so touching
Oh Lord Lesa, When I think about all of the times that I drove drunk when I was lost in that world of alcoholism... It is truly a miracle that I did not kill another or myself! I did however succeed in seriously injuring myself once... I thank God everyday that I don't live like that anymore!
Once again you have captured the emotions that may be felt by another grieving human. Only one who has experienced pain in their life, has the ability to convey it's message to others with such clarity.
By The way ~~~ I loved you're response to Eventide!
Peace and love and always prayers ~~~ Dougie ~~~
