The Visit

Today ~ I saw your smile!

Today ~ you lit my heart.

How can I explain the feeling?

I don't know where to start.

The place you hold within my heart,

No one has ever shared.

A place researved for you alone.

You are a joy beyond compare!

Today ~ my darling grandson,

you are a part of me.

As I write, with miles between us ~

your wonderous smile ~ can still be seen.

You were the vision of your father,

As you teetered to my arms.

A fresh, brand new, "I love you."

I am captured by your charm!

I can close my eyes and feel you ~

your hugs and kisses of today.

You are the fulfillment of your grandma's heart ~

   Jacob Matthew Gay

"Jacob, you own Grandma's heart!"

Author's Notes/Comments:

Well, I suppose every grandparent must feel this very same way! To look at Jacob, so much like his father, was medicine that I was very much in need of.  Three hours seperates us from the hugs ~ the very hugs that hold me close to him at the memory of their feeling. My first born grandchild,  Grandma loves you Jacob!

Another great poem.
It must be such a great feeling for a grandparent to look upon their grandchild.
I miss my grandparents.

I had just emailed to find out how you enjoyed your grandson's birthday and look what I found on the homepage under featured works. Before I had read down far enough to see the author's name, I was already smiling. I KNEW it was your's already! I'm so glad you had a good time, and I know the feelings expressed here well. Congratulations.

Our grandchildren certainly do have that innocent way of romancing us through their reflection of our own children which takes us to a past/present unification of our life.
Beautiful work Lesa!

Something powerful and
moving enchants me about
this piece because its
moves beyond the mystery
and unfathomable love in
motherhood into the realm
of progenies from motherhood
...

Only a caring soul like Lesa
who has been there could have
expressed this emotion in
such capturing imagery!
