The Pain Of A Child

Last night as I was browsing, within this hall of fame.

I came upon a poets site, while searching random names.

I looked upon their titles, misspelled, I thought in jest.

The pain so plainly stated, beckoned me to read through all the rest.

I decided to check out the bio, before the artist's poems. There he was ... a child ... standing all alone.

I immediately understood, why so many misspelled words.

I went to take a second look at someone needing to be heard.

There they stood all twelve of them, each with a haunting name.

As I opened them to take a look, their meanings were the same.

I viewed a child, that had not been read, neither here or at his home.

His words broke my heart, as he tried to say, that he was so alone!

He spoke much to his parents.  He was full of so many whys!

He asked them what that he had done, to cause them too, to cry.

He spoke of how just one kind word had filled his heart with joy.

As I read through his pleading words, I saw a lonely, very frightened, little boy.

I would gladly share with you, this child poets name,

but sadly, I too lost him...that brings me so much pain!

I asked for him to visit me but I haven't heard a word.   Within this site of open hearts, he is still waiting to be heard.

He gave his name as Stephen.  Please watch for him, in random names.

Stephen, if you are visiting me, my feelings are the same.

"To express your heart in written form, for all the world to see, shows courage far beyond your youth, not waisted here with me. Keep asking all the questions, you will figure out all the whys. One day in the near future, you will see the world through different eyes."

I signed his guest book willingly, with a few encourageing words.

But my words, are not what he longs for

I wish his parents could have heard!

We, who are the parents, need to take a look inside

Of the hearts that are our children's, so they don't unduely cry.

This child so plainly pleading,

Pleading to be heard.

Haunts today my thoughts and heart, with his misspelled words.

Upon his site of unread words, he had truly tried

To have someone see his feelings

I am so sorry that it cries!

Author's Notes/Comments:

So many crying hearts in this world!  Let us not forget that some of them belongs to children.  Lesa

Everybody wants to be heard.
Great poem.
I will keep my eye out for this person.
I hope he finds you, or you find him.
Children have a lot to say, more than you might think.

Although there are misspelled words, the pain is still there and stands out, I have read my share of pain through out the walls of this release, some that got to me so deeply That I in return began to cry. And with the pain of a child there comes the pain of adults as well, and this we must also never forget. I enjoy reading your poetry, I feel I can connect with it very well.It gives me stregnth that I don't understand quite yet, but be sure that I will not lose your words that play back in my mind, for I have bookmarked it :) Peace and much love to you always. ~Robin~

LESA,
ANOTHER FINE POEM. I FEEL THIS CHILDS PAIN. IT STRIKES VERY DEEPLY WITHIN MY OWN SELF.

WE DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE A LICENSE TO HAVE CHILDREN, BUT WE DO HAVE TO HAVE ONE TO DRIVE A CAR. PARENTS ARE NOT TAUGHT HOW TO RAISE CHILDREN. THEY ONLY KNOW WHAT THEY HAVE LEARNED FROM THEIR PARENTS.

IT IS SO SAD TO SEE PEOPLE WITH CHILDREN WHEN THEY REALLY DO NOT WANT THEM. THE CHILDREN SUFFER. WHY MUST CHILDREN SUFFER? THEY ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT COMMODITY IN THE WORLD.

YOUR POEM IS REALLY POWERFUL. THANKS FOR SHARING. TERESA

I to do not get why people have children and then never pay attention to them. I myself am a child. 15 years old. My parents are the greatest, and then I see other children in foster homes, and wonder whatever happened with their parents.

Lesa,
With tear-filled eyes, I say you deserve a medal for writing this powerful poem. If only every parent in the world could read your words, what a difference it could make.

A disturbing truth, written masterfully Lesa.
I wish too that I could find the hall of Stephen.

Lesa, WOW! This is a very special poem... And it says so much! I have read many of the childrens poetry here at postpoems, and Have heard cries for affection in many of thier words. It strikes a certain chord within my heart when I see these words because for so many years when I was young nobody would listen... Take it from one who knows what it is like to experience being lonely as a child... Thank God that today even with all the bad things on the internet, some of these lonely children are finding some positive friends.

Peace and love ~~~~ Dougie ~~~

Indeed, i would like to know this person u have so skilfully / poignantly painted within those lines of yours.
It pains me so too,,,,especially when he/she is part of my class.

Once again, i am reminded of my own poems , by the power of yours... Please, if u can and have the time Lesa, read Child Abuse, and Child Prodigy in my second hall.
These two poems are but the few others that i write on this painful topic.

Excellent! Yes so many do forget the pain of children. Is it because they are so small they are overlooked? Or are people just so busy trying to live their lives like everyone else.
Keep up the great work. I will be back to read some more of your poetry.

bravo.....

this one brought tears to my eyes.....

you have a spirit that sees the pain of others..... and is able to capture that pain in words....

this is the sort of poem that makes me want to reach out and hold this person..... what a shame that someone has children and then does not bother to help them mature in such a way that they are able to carry the love given and share that with the world..... breaks my heart.... too many people have children and then forget that they are the parent and have the right to suggest certain things that might make that childs life just a little easier... too many self centered and anger filled children running wild these days.... and it all comes from the lack of love and understanding at home...... they just want a little attention.... no matter what sort it might be.....

this was a wonderful poem..... thank you for sharing this with us here .....
