Mother

I wish you were here to wash the sorrows of my tears

And tell me about life, love, and laughter

I wish you were here to make me cake on my birthday

To love me at Christmas and need me for thanksgiving

I wish you were here so I could cry on your shoulder

And ask your advice well you watch me grow older

I wish you were here for gifts on mothers' day

And to talk about dates, boyfriends, and sex

I wish you were here to help me get dressed up for prom

To wait for me when I got home and yearn to hear all about it

I wish you were here so I could confide in you

And tell you my problems so at least you knew

That I wish you were here to do what a mother does

You have my mom when ever you need her, and it may not be the real thing but you have me too, and i love you just as much as she ever could.
This poem is very not like you, it's good to see it coming through.

Somewhere there is a mother wishing she could be there to do all of these things for her daughter... perhaps someday you will have the opportunity to give your daughter what you never had... I can tell you first hand that it makes up 10 times for everything you felt you missed out growing up to give these things to your child. You get to relive your fantasies through your childrens eyes... You get to embrace these feelings finally...
