Today I’m thankful for shooting stars…who prove quite effective
on helping us in life…keep a healthy and optimistic perspective…
For shooting stars all know…once from the sky the heavens free them….
only those of us looking up…will ever get to see them.
Today I’m thankful for wisdom
And for I yield to the wisdom of two brains…
Mary Catherine Bateson (Margaret mead’s daughter)
And, who else, but Mark Twain….
Mary Catherine Bateson said, realizing wisdom must be earned
“We are not what we know but what we are willing to learn.”
And I remember Mark Twain’s words
whenever I think I know all the things I need to know:
‘It’s not what we know that gets us in trouble
It’s what we know for sure…that just aint so.
Today I’m thankful for Native American wisdom on the importance of nature…
and how the wisdom of their elders has been proven true….
They knew the lack of respect for growing living things
would lead to a lack of respect…for humans too.
Today I’m thankful for the air around us
for two simple reasons why…
How it is there to receive our first breath
As well as our last good-bye
Today I’m thankful for the magic inherent in kindness…
We should never take an act of kindness for granted…NEVER!
because the simplest act of kindness
can lead to feelings that echo into forever.
Today I’m thankful for gratitude:
May it be a quality in us we always keep…
and may gratitude be the pillow
upon which we lay our head each night to sleep
Today I’m thankful for our ability to enjoy each moment of life…
everything we taste, touch hear or see….
and may we do our best to enjoy each moment…
before it fades into a memory.
Today I’m thankful for the simplicity of love:
For our path ahead is smooth…
If our purpose in life is
to love
to love
to love
to be kind
to heal
and to soothe.
Today I’m thankful for the wisdom of our elders…
We should thank them ever day…
while remembering:
their wisdom does us no good
unless we heed the words they say.
