Death Wish

How is it possible to feel so alone in a world with so many people,

To feel like life’s defeated you- Beaten you,

To feel like the beast has eaten you.

No friends and no foes- It’s so slow,

So much pain and no one knows- I guess that’s how it goes.

Just goes to show you- You can only count on yourself,

No one else- You’re the only one who knows what you’ve felt.

Strangled by Life’s belt- You can only hope you will get well,

What you wouldn’t do- Your soul you would sell,

Just to feel better- You’d write God a letter,

Asking for some relief- Practicing all your beliefs,

Listening to the preacher preach- Hoping it will be brief.

So many people around you- But the loneliness won’t leave.

Praying for a reprieve- Or a re-emergence of self-esteem.

It sometimes start to seem- Like Life is just a scheme.

To rob you of yourself- And everything you are,

Everything you ever will be- And convince you everything is too far.

Out of your reach- It’s pointless it seems,

To even begin to try- All you do is cry,

And in your bed you lie,

Staring into the sky,

Letting it all pass you by,

Wondering and asking why.

You let out a sigh,

As you calmly close your eyes,

And say your silent good-bye,

You lay there stiffly- Wishing that you’d die.
