Sounds strange to me

Headline in today's NY Times:

'Trump's lead defense lawyer is no stranger to representing him in court'

The lead defense lawyer for Mr Trump is Todd W Blanche, who has defended him in the past. Nothing in his background strikes me as unusual. Before becoming a defense lawyer, he was a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of NY. Nothing out of the ordinary here.

I'm wondering why the Times thinks there is. When referring to Mr Blanche, they describe him as being 'no stranger'. No stranger than what? I realize the Times has an anti-Trump bias. That's no secret. Is this their way of planting doubt in possible jurors minds about Trumps defense?

Let me explain. Mr Blanche is standing before the judge and jury trying to convince them Trump should be found not guilty of the charges. Jurors are listening, but in the back of the mind of a couple of jurors is the following thought: 'I remember The NY Times writing about him. Said something like 'he's strange' or 'there's no one stranger'. Why should I believe a word he says? He's so strange!'.

NY Times, trust the prosecution has what it needs to convict Donald Trump. If they need any help I'm sure they'll ask for it!
