The beginning

Folder:
Margot

Nine years as a child

oblivious to the world

most catastrophic event

in daily life is being called

gawky, awkward

backpacks in cubby-holes

pledges said to the flag

a normal day in school

passing notes

giggling at lunch

watch a movie

when the teacher

doesn't feel like teaching

resting eyes in a quiet room

for once there is peace

Author's Notes/Comments:

This is the beginning of a set of poems I have about my mother going to prison.
