That look in your eyes, they practically glow

As they consider my every aspect.

Often I’m mystified – “say it’s not so” –

Yet it’s genuinely me they select.

I’ve come to depend on the attention,

How you make me feel precious and adored,

But that’s one thing time will fail to mention

As it ushers the two of us aboard.

Freeze me now, take a picture with your mind,

Keep the untold ravages at bay.

While the stars remain ideally aligned

Say that you’ll remember me this way.

This face you call angelic will soften

With wrinkles and lines that belie the truth.

You will behold its beauty less often

In tandem with the passing of my youth.

I blush as you vow love that never dies.

Our eyes meet and I know you believe it.

I’m right in the space your gaze occupies

With fervent wish I’ll always receive it.
