Too Little Too Late

What a thing to turn around in surprise.

Turns out it was you I was longing for.

I've licked all my wounds, but today I rise

And look beyond myself. I deserve more.

All your entreaties now fall on deaf ears.

Look for answers in the tracks of my tears.

Where were you when I needed love the most?

You make feeble attempts to compensate,

But in your absence I proposed a toast.

Your love’s a case of too little too late.

There's a great deal of work that must be done.

In spite of you it will be completed.

Yes, you put yourself first, you had your fun,

But my quest for love won't be defeated.

You flunked the test, all the pencils are down.

It's time for the failure to wear his crown.

Where were you when I needed love the most?

You make feeble attempts to compensate,

But in your absence I proposed a toast.

Your love’s a case of too little too late.
