This Man Has Been Very Patient

A Tony Award-winner for certain
When those words from their lips lack hesitance,
But what to do at the drop of the curtain
As the characters flee their residence?
Among wonder and imagination
They live and thrive in ardent desire
Until snuffed out in the realization
That their very existence is dire.
Colorful skies when the sun is setting
Indicate a slackening atmosphere.
To gaze in jubilation is letting
Those harmful pollutants drop anchor here.
This man has been very patient although
The yellow lights still beseech him to go.
